Late Bloomer - #dVerse #haibun #poem #poetry #poetrycommunity @YvetteMCalleiro

Hello, beautiful readers! For this week's dVerse Monday prompt, Frank J Tassone presents us with Haibun Monday: Late Cherry Blossoms and invites us to write about...you guessed it - late cherry blossoms! 😁 A haibun consists of a paragraph of prose and a haiku.

Late Bloomer

Stephanie frowned as she stared at her reflection in the mirror. She folded her arms under her training bra. All her friends had already moved into real bras. Tears welled up in her eyes. Her mother came into the room and wrapped her arms around her. Smiling at her daughter's reflection, she said, "Your body is just taking a little longer to blossom. It is making sure that when it does, you're the most beautiful flower in the garden."

  1. I remember being one of the last to get a bra - I was so jealous. Now I can't wait to take it off!

    1. I'm right there with ya, Kim! I prefer being bra-free as much as possible. Thanks for visiting! :-)

  3. I love that thought... as a boy I was a very late bloomer, being a tiny child among grown ups.... until I grew, so I can relate.

    1. It's difficult for both genders. I was always the tallest, and I can assure you that it wasn't fun for me, either. Lol! Thanks for sharing. :-)

  4. Aww, this is so sweet! I was an early bloomer and didn't like that, either!
