Hello, beautiful readers! For this week's Xploration Challenge #375, Reena shared a video with us as well as the words dementia and amnesia. You can watch the video here. She encouraged us to write a poem inspired by the video or the words.
I chose to write a tanka poem, which has five lines with a 5-7-5-7-7 syllabic pattern.

memories dissolve
octopus ink obscures view
no recognition
brief moments of clarity
lily pads among the muck

Its a beautiful poem, considering the serious and sad nature of the theme.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cai! It's truly a sad situation, but I didn't want to go completely dark. I appreciate you stopping by. :-)
DeleteMy heart goes out to those suffering from this debilitating disease as well as the families. You did a great job with the poem.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jan! I appreciate your visit. :-)
DeleteEvocative tanka! I love the image more than that.

DeleteThis is Reena. My comment above was posted as Anonymous.
DeleteThis is such a sad disease that has invaded our family, Yvette. And your tanka is a perfect description.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, do you know if there is a way that I don't have to enter my name and url each time I comment here? If not, I'll continue doing it, but if there's a remedy, I'd love to know. :) You can email me at baydreamer25@gmail.com because I don't get your replies. Sigh. Thanks! 🥰
I don't have to enter my name. I think it's because I'm logged into my Google account, so it picks up that information. Blogger isn't the most user-friendly, but it's what I started with. Many people just comment under anonymous and put their name at the end of the comment. That works as well! I do appreciate you visiting and sharing your thoughts. :-)
