Hello, beautiful readers! My usual poetry challenges are silent today, so I've decided to write a poem about test anxiety. For those who don't know, I am a middle school intensive reading teacher. Right now, our students are prepping for their state tests in reading, math, and science. My students are all struggling readers/test takers, so their anxiety levels are quite high right now. I spend a lot of time working with them on managing their anxiety and boosting their self-confidence.
I chose to write a tanka, which is a poem with five lines with a 5-7-5-7-7 syllabic pattern.
Hi Yvette, Michael fits into this category of student. He has a reader for his exams now and it’s made a huge difference. Robbie
ReplyDeleteSo many students suffer from this pressure. Many of my students are actually great readers, but they panic the minute they have a test in front of them. It's really sad. I'm happy Michael is getting the support he deserves. Thanks for sharing, Robbie! :-)
DeleteYou captured anxiety, well, Yvette!
