Hello, beautiful readers! Week 2 of NaPoWriMo is complete! I've managed to write at least one poem every day. Last weekend, I took a 3-day cruise on Margaritaville at Sea, which gives free cruises to heroes (military and military families, law enforcement, fire, emergency medical, and government employees). My sister and I had a wonderfully relaxing mini-vacation, so a couple of my poems came from that experience.
I've broken it up by day, and if I followed a prompt, I posted a link to the prompt in case you want to try your hand at writing one.
Day 10 (tanka and haiku):
bon voyage I go
I leave the shore behind on
Margaritaville
worries slip away from mind
relaxation makes me smile
sea turtle
dives deep in blue sea
carefree dude
Day 11 (double nonet):
#TankaTuesday Weekly Poetry Challenge
Day 12 (mirror cinquain):
Dear Poem,
thank you
vibrant outlet
where my muse sings freely
emotions captured by the pen
express
transform
serenades the soul with wonder
harmonizes the heart
my therapy
with love
Day 13 (haiku):
gentle humpback whales
widespread travelers
sea's soulful singers
Day 14 (narrative poem with ABAAB rhyme scheme):
I chose to mimic my favorite poem, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. I can't say I met the challenge's directions, but I had fun trying.
One trail split on a palm tree lined path,
And curious as to where each led,
I stared at each and did some quick math
And analyzed each of the foot paths
Then downloaded the park's map instead.
Each path's mileage was about the same,
But their journeys were nothing alike.
One passed by a bay with trails quite tame.
One was built like an obstacle game,
But both were environments I like.
And knowing I would be back someday,
I chose to push my muscles some more.
Oh, I knew one day I'd enjoy the bay!
Sit under palm trees and watch them sway,
But today I desired to explore.
I will share my story on my site
To allow my followers to see,
One path became two to my delight.
As the sun set, I knew I chose right.
Adventure sets my heart and soul free.
Day 15 (haiku):
wild dandelions
underestimated plant
sustenance for all
Day 16 (haiku):
ocean waters heal
rejuvenate body, soul
Poseidon's cure all
Have you written any poetry this week? I'd love to hear from you. :-)
Great poems, Yvi! I did national poetry month last year but just aren’t up for it this time around. I hope you have fun with it! Hugs, Harmony 💕🙂
ReplyDeleteThanks, Harmony! I only write on the topics I think I'll enjoy. Some of them take too much time to put together, and I don't have that kind of time. I appreciate you taking the time to read my poems. :-)
DeleteYve, golly— glorious. All just sublime. I especially loved your day 14. You said you mimicked Robert Frost’s. Oh my, this was extraordinary. I’m so sure Mr. Frost would approve. Splendid. Thanks for sharing your productive week. Loved. Xoxo. Bless you. Xoxo Selma.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Selma! Keeping the syllable count and rhyme was a fun challenge. I'm happy you liked it. :-)
DeleteSuch lovely poetry, Yvette. I love the emotions expressed in each.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jan! I appreciate you visiting. :-)
