Hello, beautiful readers! Today, Colleen Chesebro's Tanka Tuesday challenge is focusing on the theme, Memories: Sweet & Sour. The first thing that came to my mind was a relationship gone wrong, so I wrote this tanka. For those of you who are learning with me, a tanka has five lines with a 5 7 5 7 7 syllabic pattern. The third line sometimes has a pivot that applies both to the first two lines and the last two lines. I hope you like it. :-)
A
whirlwind of love
Promises
of forever
Our
perfect romance
Shattered
by your betrayal
Now
broken-hearted strangers
I'd love to hear your thoughts on my sweet & sour poem. If you want to join in on the fun, check out Colleen's posts here. :-)
Beautiful and vivid imagery. Well done, Yvette!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mark! I appreciate you commenting. :-)
DeleteI belive we have all fallen in that trap -
ReplyDeleteAnd that most of us are lucky enough to get out of it too!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Kavya! I'm so happy you like it. :-)
Delete"Nothing ventured, nothing gained" may sound trite, but true love is something that is "all in," with the assumption that it's reciprocal. But then, we never see it coming.
ReplyDeleteSo true, Ken. You cannot experience deep love without allowing yourself to be vulnerable and risking the pain that may come. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. :-)
