A Day in My Life - Day 3 @RRBC_Org 2023 #RRBC 30-Day #Blogging Challenge #GetToKnowMe @YvetteMCalleiro #ADayInMyLife #RWISA @RRBC_RWISA @Tweets4RWISA #Walking #AppliedKinesiology #CFS

Hello, beautiful readers! I'm back for day three of the 2023 #RRBC 30-Day Blogging Challenge. Today started off with some necessary phone calls. I called my retirement funds to touch base with them and make sure I am still in the best plan for me. I have been putting it off for a while because I don't understand the market no matter how many times it's explained to me. I am great with math, but I seem to have a mental block that prohibits me from embracing investment concepts (although I'm GREAT at saving money). I keep trying to get my son to learn about it, so he can help me out.

Then, I went for a walk. It was a beautiful 78 degrees this morning, and the sun was shining, so before my day got too busy, I wanted to check off that exercise box. Day four of the new year and four days of some kind of wellness for me (swim, walk, stretch, walk). Here are some pictures of my walking path:

It's calming and rejuvenating. I enjoy the different types of ducks and birds along the path. The path leads into a park, so I walk around the park before heading back home. It's about three miles, so it's really nice. And I don't stroll; I keep a fast pace to get my heart rate up. Unfortunately, I can't run because my knees are bad, but I walk briskly enough that I feel it in my muscles, so it's all good.

Then, I worked my part-time job for a few hours. I work remotely for a shore excursion company that organizes cruise excursions for companies all over the world. I help by confirming meeting instructions and tour times with the various vendors. Normally, it is simply sending emails and inputting data, but today I made phone calls to vendors who haven't replied to my emails. It's easy work, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to make a little extra money to help pay my bills for the life I'm providing for my son (I'll share that one of these days as well).

Then, my son and I went to my kinesiologist/healer. My healer is AMAZING! She uses applied kinesiology, chiropractic medicine, eastern medicine, and minerals to heal the body. She uses the meridian points in the body to "listen" to which organs/muscles/tendons/etc are in disharmony and then resets them. Some of you may be hesitant to believe in this type of "medicine" works, but I am living proof that it does.

I suffered for years with chronic fatigue syndrome. My regular doctor (western medicine) was fantastic! He kept digging and digging until he could figure out what was wrong with me. I am so grateful that he didn't give up on me. He finally diagnosed me with CFS (later called CFS/ME). Back then, medical doctors did not think CFS was a real thing; they labeled patients as depressed or hypochondriacs. Luckily, my doc trusted what he found, and I'm so grateful for that. He put me on pills to raise my metabolism so that I could function in life (My heart rate was in the 40s, my blood pressure was very low, and I barely had energy to raise my arm without wanting to cry. It was horrible!). Unfortunately, those pills trigged my anxiety disorder. They were a quick fix but not a permanent one.

My sister had found this kinesiologist who had healed her of silent migraines which had given her vertigo for twelve years. At first, I resisted, not sure if she could do anything for me, but I finally gave in and went to visit her. It didn't happen overnight, but she did heal me. Now, I am not taking any drugs, my heart rate is normal, and my blood pressure is in the normal-ish range (it still tends to be on the low-normal end). I have a normal range of energy, and I celebrate that every day. So, I now visit my kinesiologist every six weeks for a wellness check-up for preventative measures. She finds whatever is out of sync and fixes it.

My son has started going to her as well when he feels the need. He started playing tackle football this year. He's always been athletic. At three years old, he started playing baseball and soccer. Soccer lasted three years. Baseball lasted six years. At nine, he started playing flag football and played it until last year. He's a junior now in high school and begged me to let him play tackle football. It scares me to death, but this is his passion, and he hopes to get a scholarship to play in college, so I couldn't deny him the opportunity. That being said, I have him wearing extra padding under his required padding.

So, I took him to see my kinesiologist midway in the season. He plays both offense and defense, so between the practices and the games, his body gets roughed up. She keeps him agile and realigns his spine whenever it's needed. His foot has been hurting him, so he went with me today to have her look at it. She adjusted him, so he's good now. :-)

Our night ended with our dinner and show, except my son wanted to try this new show he's been hearing about. It's called Kaleidoscope on Netflix. It's a really cool concept, actually. It's like Ocean's 11, I believe. The preview shows a group of people planning a heist. What's cool about it is that each viewer sees the episodes in a different order. When you click on the show, it will randomize the order of the episodes. It claims that it will keep you guessing as to who is the villain/culprit until the end. Challenge accepted! I love figuring it out before they reveal it (and I'm usually really good at it. I figured out the villain on the Wednesday series in episode one). We started with the green episode. If you decide to watch it, let me know which episode you start with. I'm curious if it really does randomize them for each customer.

Well, that was another long post. Are you still reading? lol! Did you connect with anything I wrote today? Do you have a nice walking path? Have you ever visited a holistic healer? Are you curious about Kaleidoscope? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Leave a comment below. :-)

  1. I could use a healer to help with my arthritis and lymphedema. A hand surgeon wants to replace my thumb joint with metal hinges. I told him no thank you. And lymphedema is a mystery to most doctors. It took years for me to be diagnosed. I would need a magician to fix me. Walking is great exercise for most people, but my legs get swollen. Swimming is the best for me. I swim a lot during the summer. New York weather is conducive for swimming for three months a year. Before Covid, I swam indoors in our county pool. I might return this winter even though New York is in the midst of a triple epidemic - flu, RSV, and Covid. I'll have to weigh risk vs. return. Like an investment, which I heard you are not fond of.

    1. No, I am not fond of understanding investments, but I see the necessity in investing. My brain just fights me in understanding the money market. Lol! I have no doubt there are healers in New York. Perhaps research applied kinesiology or holistic medicine. I hope you find the care you need to bring more enjoyment to life, Susanne! :-)

  2. Hi,
I enjoy walking to. I don't walk as often as I used to, but I still walk and that is a blessing. Happy that you found a cure for CFS. To be honest, I'd never heard of it. I don't know if the Medical System here has it listed in their symptoms catalog. It might be. Glad you and your son found a new show on Netflix. Something that you both can sit and relax too.
Take care and have a happy evening.

    1. Hi, Pat! That I know of, there is no cure, but it is completely dormant, and I am grateful that it is. My goal is to keep is dormant by managing my emotional and physical health. So far, so good! Thanks for stopping by! :-)

  3. Yvette, I connected with so much of what you wrote! First, what a walking path - it is gorgeous and must renew you each time you walk. My path is on a heavily wooded road that leads to two small lakes, about a block from our house. I can't walk far, reasons to much to explain here, but I am trying to work up to a mile again. As for the healer, my friend is a healer but lives in Lake Wales, Florida. I studied Reiki with her. I believe she studied Shamanism but doesn't do much with it now. I'm glad you have one you trust, and your son too. Your loving and caring relationship with your son really shines through in all you post. May you both have a beautiful day.

  4. What a beautiful walking path, Yvette! I loved reading about your holistic healer and how much she's helped you. You've got me wondering whether I should see someone with those skills. The older we get, the more help we need! The money market scares me. We hear too many horror stories of people getting scammed, and I would have trouble trusting any investments. If your son does study it and get into it, let me know. You raised him, I'd trust him. I wish I had time to watch something like Kaleidoscope. After watching Hallmark with my hubby, if I haven't fallen asleep during the movie, I'm out soon afterwards. Have a blessed day today!

    1. We only watch one show a night, so Supernatural is on pause until we finish Kaleidoscope. It was interesting last night, so we are giving it a shot. You should definitely see if you can find a healer in your area. They are noninvasive and only focus on wellness and making the body whole again. Thank you for your kind words about raising Dominic. <3 :-)

  5. Hi Yvette, Your walking path looks especially beautiful! I too love to power walk, as it melts away the tension and clears my head. The kinesiologist sounds like a practical idea. The whole concept makes sense to me as I'm trained in massage therapy and have been exposed to eastern medicine concepts. It's always good to keep things as natural as possible! By the way, you sound like an amazing mom! : )

    1. Aw, thank you, Donna! I am by no means perfect, but I strive to be the best mom I know how. I'm sure massage therapy hits upon certain meridian points as well. I, too, prefer to heal naturally as much as possible. Thanks for sharing, Donna! :-)

  6. Yvette, that is a lovely path to walk. I walk through an animal preserve near my home (always with someone, though, as I don't know what's living in those woods). It's beautiful. I'll share photos one day.

It sounds like you're busy, busy. I also believe in seeing doctors and practitioners outside of my family doc and those who believe in only traditional medicine. I see a Rheumatologist, Holistic doctor, and an Acupuncturist.

Getting inside your day was beautiful! Thanks for sharing :)

    1. I'd love to walk through an animal preserve, Nonnie! My sister and I are starting to use the AllTrails app to find new walking and biking trails near us to explore. We love being in nature. :-)

  7. Yvette, I have dabbled in the concept of kinesiologist. I've been to a holistic doctor, medical doctor, and alternative medicine and it helped me to heal. Then trying new things brought me full circle. So, I'm a firm believer in other methods to aid in the healing process. Way to go, Yvette!

    1. I remember reading that in your Crazy! Hot! book, Shirley! There are benefits to all modes of medicine. We just need to be vigilant and keep looking until we find what works for us. You did just that, and I'm happy you found your healing process. Thanks for sharing! :-)
