Hello, beautiful readers! Today is Day 16 of the #RRBC 30-Day Blogging Challenge. Today was a regular work day: part-time job for an hour in the morning, teaching job, stretch, and a dinner and show with my son. This Friday is the end of the grading period, so many of the students are scrambling to bring their grades up. Instead of boring you with my normal routine, I figured I'd share with you something I mentioned in an earlier post but did not elaborate upon: emotional frequency Techniques tapping, or EFT.

What is EFT? It is an alternative way to treat physical pain and emotional stress. According to The Tapping Solution Foundation, it "provides relief from chronic pain, emotional problems, disorders, addictions, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, and physical diseases."

EFT tapping focuses on tapping on the meridian points in the body to bring energy balance and relieve any negative symptoms you are experiencing. Meridian points are places where energy flows through the body. If you've ever tried acupuncture, these are the spots where they place the needles. It is the ultimate mind-body connection because tapping on the meridian points is believed to send signals to the brain to stimulate the central nervous system to release the negative energy it's retaining.

I first came across EFT tapping during 2020. As an extroverted introvert, I enjoy alone time, but not when it's forced upon me. COVID created an isolated vacuum which wreaked havoc on my emotions and psyche. So, I came across this free online summit by the Tapping Solution Foundation which taught me not only how to tap but also gave multiple opportunities to practice with their guided experts. At first, I didn't believe it would do anything, but as I practiced with them, I felt my shoulders relax, my breathing become deeper and calmer, and my overall emotional state feel lighter.

So, how does it work? There are specific meridian points that you tap on 5-7 times in a certain order (different sites may use different points or a different order, but I like how the Tapping Solution does it). Here is a diagram of the points:

When you begin tapping, you start with a set up statement that mentions the issue while also stating that you love and accept yourself (even if you don't believe it). Then, you tap through the points saying statements while acknowledging how you feel. What I love about The Tapping Solution is they have an app that has a bunch of guided tapping sessions on so many different topics: anxiety, fear, anger, sleep, pain, worry, stress, motivation, disappointment, self-doubt, and so many more. The sessions can be as quick as three minutes or as long as you want. I tend to do the ten-minutes sessions unless I don't have much time. Then, I'll do a micro-boost just to give myself a quick reset.

Now, just for clarification, I am not employed by The Tapping Solution and am not getting paid to talk about them. I am speaking about them because their sessions have brought me immense peace and harmony, and I want to share that with you. I'm sure there are other companies out there. And if you are comfortable enough, you can create your own tapping routine without following anyone else. I just prefer being guided because it is one less thing I have to think about. Plus, I love that they work with war veterans, cancer and trauma patients, and students.

Here is a video of Jessica Ortner as she shares how the tapping works:

The bottom line is: if we don't take time for wellness, we will be forced to take time for illness. So, may you focus on taking care of yourself - body, mind, and soul. :-)

Have you ever tried tapping? I'd love to hear about your experience.

  1. Thanks for this great post, Yvette! I just bookmarked the link to The Tapping Solution site. I remember my daughter tried tapping for a while, but I don't remember how it went for her. I will have to ask her. I'm going to give it a try. I'm so glad you found it helpful.

    1. I love tapping, Maura Beth! If you do a bit of quick research, you can find which points connect to which organs. Tapping on those points can help ease any stress that organ is feeling. I'd love to hear how your experience goes. Thanks for stopping by today! :-)

  4. Hi, Yvette,
I must admit I have never used this technique. When I feel a little bit uptight, I take a break.

    1. Thanks for sharing, Pat! Taking a break doesn't work for me because it allows my mind to wander. This give my mind purpose and helps release my anxiety. :-)
