A Day in My Life - Day 13 @RRBC_Org 2023 #RRBC 30-Day #Blogging Challenge #GetToKnowMe @YvetteMCalleiro #ADayInMyLife #RWISA @RRBC_RWISA @Tweets4RWISA #MaryKay #HGTV #KitchenCrashers #RaveWaves @Pat_Garcia

Hello, beautiful readers! Today is a chilly Day 13 for this Florida girl. It has been in the 50s all day, which is a bit too cold for me. Other than that, it's beautiful - brilliantly clear blue skies, and thank goodness for that because I would not have enjoyed my outing today if it had been cloudy and cold.

I woke up when the body wanted to (thanks to no alarms) and then started my morning routine. I had a lot of blogs to visit and tweet, and I left comments on most of them. It's actually quite time consuming, but I've made a commitment to see this challenge through and part of that is visiting the other participants in this challenge and commenting on their blogs. Knowing that others are reading and commenting on what you have taken the time to write to motivates you to keep going, and we all enjoy motivation.

I am also trying to make space to leave comments on the blogs of authors I follow that not part of the challenge. When my son's football schedule sucked time away from my already busy life, something had to give, and commenting on blogs was one of those things. I still shared their posts on social media, but now that I'm writing my own blogs and seeing the effort that goes into writing them, I'm trying to be more active on their blogs. Sometimes, though, I just don't have the time it takes to read them all, but I am going to try to be better at commenting.

I joined the Rave Waves "Eyes on the Book" show for today's segment. Rave Waves is a production of the Rave Reviews Book Club. They have several different shows, each one hitting upon one aspect of writing. Today's show focused on the newest book by award winning author Pat Garcia, Janie B. I have the story on my kindle but haven't had time to read it yet. The show was fascinating, and I'm even more eager to read it now. I always enjoy these segments. Not only are the shows interesting, but I get to spend a bit of time with my fellow authors on Zoom, which is always a treat. If you are curious as to what the shows are about, you can click here to see past shows.

After the show, I got my food shopping done. My mom's knees are not the best right now, so I tend to pick up items for her during my shopping trips. There's no point in both of us having to go to the same store, and she lives just five minutes away from me. So, I'll get what she needs and drop it off at her house.

Today, I also dropped off a product for a customer. I guess I haven't mentioned yet that I also sell Mary Kay. I started selling when my son was just a baby as a way to connect with other women and get some great products at a discount. I am not very active in selling anymore because, let's be real, there aren't enough hours in my day to add that to the plate, but I love the products. I still have some loyal customers and take care of them when they need new products. If you've never tried Mary Kay and want to check it out, here is a link to my page. It can ship anywhere. ;-)

By the time I got home, the cold had settled into my bones, so I chose to workout indoors instead of walk. It was too late for lunch, so I settled for a linner (lunch + dinner). My son is with his dad this weekend, so I watch a separate show when he's away (and when I'm cooking). Usually, it's something on HGTV. I love their shows. Right now, I'm watching Kitchen Crashers. Alison Victoria and her crew redo a kitchen in three days. My kitchen needs remodeling, but that's an expense I cannot afford right now, so I live vicariously through the show until I have the means and the time to redo my own.

Once I finished eating, I headed to the computer to get some hours in at my part-time job. Another great day is checked off. :-)

Are you a blogger? Do you follow and comment on other blogs? Do you limit the amount of time you spend on it? Are you a fan of HGTV like I am? I'd love to hear from you. :-)

  1. Hi, Yvette! I'm a big HGTV fan, too! I started with the old design shows like Candace Owens, Joe Ruggiero, and Groundbreakers. Now they have a different focus that includes more DIY shows. I missed Eyes on the Book today and I hate it because Pat is very supportive. My grandson, Malcolm, was visiting us. I'm glad you got to sleep in this morning.🤗

    1. It was a wonderful show, Linda, but you can always catch it on replay. My favorite HGTV shows are Property Brothers, Flip or Flop, Fixer to Fabulous, Home Town, Renovation Island, and so many more that I'm gonna stop there. Lol! I don't have cable, so I pay for Discovery+ just so I can watch those show. Thanks for sharing, Linda! :-)

  3. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on leaving comments, Yvette. Blogging is the most time-consuming part of my day, so I'm always interested in learning how other people prioritize and manage their time. I comment a lot, but I've had to cut back and usually can only visit everyone once a week. There just aren't enough hours in day. I tend to focus on bloggers who like to interact. I like the "relationship" part of blogging best so I put my efforts there. And I also do a lot for my dad. I know how important and sometimes unpredictable the needs of our parents are. You're a good daughter. :-D

    1. Thank you, Diana! I, too, like the relationship building aspect. This challenge is showing me who is looking for that same connection. Because I am so limited in my time, those people are the ones I will visit first. If I have time to visit the others, I'll do so, but I'm going to give my energy to those who are willing to share their energy with me as well. :-)

  4. I too follow lots of blogs and it is quite time-consuming to visit and comment on each. So, I have to go with what grabs my interest and let the rest pass. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a productive day! Hugs!

    1. I agree, Jan! I can't visit them all, so I have to choose which ones pull at me and visit those first. Thanks for commenting! :-)

  5. Yvette, A dear friend used to sell Mary Kay and so I had some of those products. Like you, I've been struggling to keep up with the reading/blogging but want to hang in there! Challenge is the right word for it.

    1. Yes, it is, Maura Beth! It is a challenge to keep up, but I'm going to do my best to do so. Hopefully, we will make it to the finish line together. :-)

  6. Hi, Yvette! Thanks for sharing your day with us! I enjoyed today's Rave Waves "Eyes on the Book" segment with Pat Garcia. What better way to get to know our fellow authors than to see and hear them? I love that you help your mom out by doing some shopping for her. I know she appreciates you.

As this 30-day challenge progresses, it gets more challenging to find time to get anything else done. Thank you for your visits to my blogs and for leaving your comments. I enjoy visiting yours. Everyone's comments are fun and worth reading through.

    Blessings!

    1. I love your blog as well, Patty! And I do enjoy reading people's reactions to what I write. It's a way to connect with one another and find commonalities or learn something new. Thanks for stopping by! :-)

  7. This challenge made me realize how time-consuming it is to blog every day. I used my blog to share poems and news about my books, but writing articles reminds me of having homework assignments every night.

    1. It kinda does feel like a daily assignment, doesn't it, Susanne! I didn't think of it that way. I used my blog to promote others, and every now and then, I'd promote something I wrote. I still don't know if I consider myself a blogger, but I'll see this challenge through and then reevaluate. Thanks for commenting today. :-)

  8. Hi, Yvette,
I too am catching up on comments. The Challenge is time consuming, but like you, I have made a commitment and I plan to see it through.
I don't know why your blog takes my comments sometimes and then sometimes don't take them. Technology! Oh well...

    1. I like to think that Blogger has attitude sometimes. I wish I knew why it works sometimes and not others. I do appreciate you continuing to try. XOXO :-)

  9. I spend a lot of time reading and commenting on the blogs I follow. Canceling my Twitter and Instagram accounts has helped free up a little time. I also no longer follow everyone who follows me (some accounts I suspect are bots or spammers).

    1. I never really scroll social media. I get on Twitter, tweet a few things, thank those who tag me, and get off. On Instagram, I see the first five or so pictures and get off. Those are time suckers, and I don't have time. Lol! I also don't follow everyone who follows me. Thanks for sharing, Liz! I appreciate you stopping by. :-)
