#TankaTuesday Weekly Poetry Challenge #TastetheRainbow #ColorPoetry @SyllabicPoetry @ColleenChesebro #Inchworm #gray #poetry #poems #poetrycommunity

Hello, beautiful readers! This week's #TankaTuesday Poetry Challenge asks us to choose a color and a syllabic form to write a poem. Immediately when I saw this prompt, the color gray popped into my head, so I went with it.

I chose to a new form by Jules Page called Inchworm. This form consists of any number of stanzas with four lines each, following a syllabic count of 2-4-6-8.

A Life of Gray

have you
ever noticed
diversities in gray?
the in between - not bright or dark

not fixed
but flexible
where most see black and white
I want to live in worlds of gray

What color resonates with you?

If you'd like to have some fun writing poetry, you can join us at Colleen Chesebro's page for weekly challenges. I'd love to see what you create! :-)

Just delightful ~ to accept differences in all shades is a wonderful lesson.

    ~Thanks again, Jules.

  3. Greyscale lets us see form better than color I think. It always gives new insight.

    1. It's funny how mindset changes our focus on such a color. There was a time when I found gray to be drab and depressing. Now, I see it as soothing and enjoyable. Thanks for sharing your connection to gray, Jan! :-)

  8. In the gray I like to see subtle shades of purple. Your inchworm is lovely, Yvette. Thanks for sharing. I might try this one. Looks fun. Wow. I'll need to search for the post where Colleen so generously shared them all. Thanks for reminding me. Be well, sweet one.

    1. I like my gray to have subtle shades of blue. Lol! That's the beauty of gray. It can embrace the other colors well. Colleen added the new forms to her cheat sheet at the bottom, so it's easy for us to find. That's where I found it. Thanks for stopping by, Selma! :-)

    1. I completely agree. It's when we become so rigid in our views that we lose sight of the beauty surrounding us. Thanks for stopping by, Mark! :-)

    1. Thanks, Diana! I recently remodeled my bathroom and knew I wanted gray to be the predominant color. I couldn't believe how many gray shades there were. It was a bit difficult choosing the shade that resonated with me because I found several I gravitated toward. :-)
