Hello, beautiful readers! I am hosting again over at #TankaTuesday, and with my sister's 50th birthday next week, I decided to create a prompt that focused on sisterly love or sisterhood. My sister is my best friend, and I cannot imagine life without her. So I chose to write a tanka prose.
Though I am older than you by two years, I don't remember a time before you. Wherever I was, there you were. You were my first playmate. Whether we played with Barbies or My Little Ponies or we dribbled a soccer ball or skated in the carport, we were always together as children. Moving so often taught us we only had each other to rely on. No matter where we lived, you'd be there with me. Sure, we had some rough patches as all siblings do, but we always found our way back to each other. Even in my darkest moments, you loved me through them as no one else could. And five decades later, we are closer than ever, planning new adventures and making memories as often as possible. I am blessed to have you as my sister and my best friend.
constant companions
through this life's greatest journeys
in ev'ry season
just two peas in the same pod
creating special moments

DeleteHow wonderful to be able to have such a relationship. I am the younger... but my sister's friend took my place as bestie. And after some very rough patches at least we are talking once again. It doesn't help that we aren't located close either. Such is life.
ReplyDeleteMy sister and I went through some hard times as well. I think that's part of life. Luckily, we found our way back to each other. We live about 25 minutes apart, so we see each other often, and we talk on the phone almost ever day. Thanks for visiting and sharing, Jules! :-)
