Dreams of Lunch - #TankaTuesday #FFFC #dVerse #Quadrille #oxymoron #smile #poem #poetry #poetrycommunity @YvetteMCalleiro

Hello, beautiful readers! My mother is really struggling with Shingles right now. She has several autoimmune issues, and the nerve pain from the Shingles is unbearable. Please send her healing energy and keep her in your prayers. I truly appreciate it.

I'm combining prompts again. These three just melded so easily together, which I'm happy about since it means I can participate in all of them. The first prompt is from #TankaTuesday where Robbie invites us to use an oxymoron in our syllabic poem.

The second prompt is from dVerse. De Jackson invites us to write a Quadrille (a poem with 44 words) that focuses on the word smile (or a word with the same meaning). And the last prompt is from Melissa's Fandango Flash Fiction which provided the image below.

Dreams of Lunch

The Florida Everglades are full of wild animals. One who always captures attention is the massive crocodile who sunbathes at the marina's dock. He rests on the ramp, observing all of us.

lazy crocodile
grins at all who pass him by
beware gentle jaws

  4. I'm so sorry about your mom! My mother-in-law had a very bad case several years ago, and I know how auto-immune diseases can make conditions worse. My husband and I got the vaccines as soon as we were eligible!

Excellent job with the challenges. I will stay away from those crocodile smiles!

  9. I'm so sorry for your Mom, Yvi. I'm taking gabapentin for nerve pain with sciatica. This drug would help her so much. I got my shingles shots for my 60th birthday almost 8 years ago. I heard the pain is unbearable! I'll send healing energy her way. 💜

    1. Thank you, Colleen! My mom has been on gabapatin for the nerve pain related to her five knee surgeries for years, so it's doing nothing for this new nerve pain. :'( I appreciate you sending healing energy to her. :-)

Your verse and the image reminded me of a song from Peter Pan...
    "Never smile at a crocodile
No, you can't get friendly with a crocodile
Don't be taken in by his welcome grin
He's imagining how well you'd fit within his skin…"

  15. Yes, the crocodile (and any of its cousins) belie the reality with their relaxed pose, beware indeed. I sure hope your mother's health improves soon.
