Hello, beautiful readers! Today, I am hosting the #TankaTuesday Poetry Challenge. The prompt focuses on the word gift. As you can read over at the #TankaTuesday site, I am not a fan of gift giving or receiving. For most of my adult life, it has caused me anxiety. Instead, I prefer creating an experience where the giver and receiver create memories together. Luckily, my friends and my families love me enough to accept this modification.
The prompt asks for poets to write a poem using either the noun or verb version of gift. I chose to go with the noun version and wrote a tanka.
my heart swells with love
from a babe to adulthood
my most precious gift
my caterpillar now flies
sharing his kindness with all
