Hello, beautiful readers! For this week's Wea've Written Weekly (W3), Sarah Wiley invites us to write a Triolet. This form consists of eight lines with an ABaAabAB pattern. Lines 1, 4, and 7 are the same as are lines 2 and 8. The challenge was to write about an ordinary object. An extra challenge was to write with ten syllables per line, which I did.
I chose to write about my water bottle. As many of you have learned through my posts, I have an anxiety disorder. One of the many ways I've learned to manage it is with magnesium L-threonate. It's a powder I put in my water every day, and it helps me stay calm. Since I drink it slowly throughout the day, my bottle has gone with me on every trip I've taken. Lol! So, here is my poem.
My Calming Blue
my blue water bottle goes where I go
it's my security blanket of calm
its contents allow me to ebb and flow
my blue water bottle goes where I go
powerful against any bout of woe
every sip removes any trace of qualm
my blue water bottle goes where I go
it's my security blanket of calm
An important everyday item indeed (and one I am hopeless at remembering!) Nice take on the prompt.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting! I have been known to go back home and grab my water bottle if I realize I've left it on the counter when I go to grab it during my drive. Lol!
DeleteTo my detriment I am way too lazy to carry water! Lovely little poem 👏
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shaun! I appreciate your visit. :-)
DeleteIt is so nice to have little comfort objects. I do not currently have one- but reading this makes me sure I should.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Violet! I appreciate you visiting. :-)
DeleteThe rhythm of the Triolet compliments the function of your water bottle.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Heather! I appreciate you stopping by. :-)
DeleteLovely triolet - and your water bottle is the perfect colour for calm too.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Marion! It reminds me of the ocean, which is my favorite place to be. Thanks for visiting! :-)
DeleteLove your triolet! It's amazing how an everyday object can help us in so many ways. 'every sip removes any trace of qualm'.
ReplyDeleteThank you, O'Nika! I appreciate your visit. :-)
DeleteWater is life--ordinary yet essential.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to use calming colours in objects we carry outside!
ReplyDeleteI've never thought a water bottle to be a comfort, but I guess you are right. Lovely poem!
ReplyDeleteA great triolet Evette 👏 I carry my water bottle everywhere too! (It’s got gin in it 😁)
ReplyDeleteYvette your triolet is wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI love how personal this feels, Yvette — that image of “my blue water bottle goes where I go” captures such quiet comfort. To me it seems less about the bottle itself and more about carrying a bit of peace wherever you are.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
David

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI like the rhythm of your poem. I personally prefer a cup of black coffee and looking out the patio window at my garden early in the morning as I listen to my audio Bible.
It calms my blue immediately.
