Hello, beautiful readers! Today is day 23 of the #RRBC 30-Day Blogging Challenge.
This morning, my heart was crushed into pieces. I found out that a former student of mine died in a car accident because a drunk guy decided to get behind the wheel of his car. With options like LYFT and UBER, why are people still choosing to drink and drive? How can people choose to risk their own lives and the lives of everyone on the street by driving drunk? An incredible man was killed because of someone else's negligent irresponsibility!
I taught high school for 20 years, and it's an experience like no other. You bond differently with those students because they are older and connect with you on a deeper level. My students knew they could friend me on Facebook after they graduated from high school, and many of them did. I have watched those kids grown into young men and women, graduate from college, get married, and have children. Elvis was one of those kids.
Elvis always had a smile on his face. Always. I taught his older brother, and they both always carried the best energy within them. Elvis made everyone laugh all the time. People gravitated toward him because he was always nice to everyone. He was just 34 years old. He just recently got married and had a baby. And some drunk driver veered into his lane and hit his vehicle in a head-on collision. He died instantly; his wife was taken to the hospital, but she survived. Their children will never know how beautiful their father was, and he will never get to watch them grow.
I have been a hot mess all day. I'll get it together and then something will trigger me, and I start crying again. Such a senseless death of an incredible man who had so much more life to live!ðŸ˜
I don't have the energy to share my next trip, so that will wait until tomorrow. After work today, I had a wellness appointment with my holistic doctor.
He has this machine, a ZYTO bioscan, that measures my body composition. I place my hand on it and it reads where my imbalance is. Most people don't feel the electrical current, but I am highly sensitive and can feel the tingling on my skin. It can also determine whether the products you are using are compatible with your body's chemical makeup. For example, it showed me that ashwaganda weakens me. I was taking it because it helps relieve stress and anxiety, but my body didn't absorb it well. Once I stopped it, I felt better. I learned I don't do well with any of the nightshade family, so I now I avoid them.
When I first saw it in action, I thought it was very sci-fi. I wasn't sure I believed in it, but when I saw that my reading was very different from my sister's and that it pulled on the areas I knew I had issues with without ever telling him, I became a believer.
His weight loss program helped me lost 30 pounds and keep it off. He helps me regulate my hormones so I don't deal with hot flashes. He also helps me balance my energy and physical-emotional connections. So, I go to him every few months to stay balanced. He checks to see what minerals and vitamins I need to help me be at my optimal health.
He also has a program called EVOX that helps people to break through emotional blockages or past memories that are hindering healing. I always enjoy going to these appointments because I learn about natural healing.
These appointments usually take an hour or two, so by the time I got home, it was just enough time to cook dinner and watch a show with my son, who I hugged longer than usual tonight.
Have you every tried holistic healing? If not, would you? I'd love to hear from you.
Oh, Yvette, I'm so sorry about your former student. How devastating. People who drink and drive are totally self-absorbed, and the damage they do is immeasurable. I'll be praying for Elvis's family and for you.

Thank you, Patty! They need all the prayers they can get to deal with the next week. They went to the funeral home yesterday to make arrangements. My heart breaks for them! :'(
DeleteYvette, how heartbreaking about Elvis. I'm so sorry; my heart goes out to his family. So senseless!! I'm glad your healing session helped you. I went to a holistic healer once, but she was too vague and scattershot for me, so I stopped. I do Reiki though, and have a great practitioner I go to, and that is my calming modality I guess you'd say.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Maura Beth! I haven't tried Reiki, but I hope to one day. I appreciate you sharing (and your kind words). :-)
DeleteOh, Yvette,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear this. You have every right to feel pain and sorrow because you invested in that student. If you can, go home early and grab a cup of something warm, like tea. and say goodbye to him in your own way. I will be thinking of you.
Take care.

My best friend and I both shared him as a student, so we spent some time reminiscing and crying last night. I appreciate you sharing those suggestions, Pat!
DeleteI am so sorry, Yvette. What a senseless tragedy. I didn't know him, but will send up prayers for comfort for his family. I love holistic medicine vs traditional chemical medicine. How wonderful that you found a doctor who could get you in tune with what your body needs!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the prayers for comfort, Jan! The family needs all they can get.
DeleteI feel awful about your student who was taken from this world too soon. Your tragedy reminded me of my brother's car accident when he was 33, and I've never recovered from the horror of it. It's hard to understand how a young life can end this way. Take care and pace yourself since you need time to adjust.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susanne! I know you understand the pain at a level I cannot because you lost your brother. My heart breaks for his family. Thanks for sharing today.
DeleteHi Yvette! I'm so sorry to hear about Elvis; what a heartbreaking thing to have happen. I will say a prayer for him, his family, and you before I go to sleep tonight. As for holistic medicine, I would be willing to try it. When I attended massage therapy school I took some energy classes, and as a result, I found out I'm sensitive to subtle energy. I'm also super chemically sensitive. (Lots of allergies!) Then there's the issue with how dysfunctional our healthcare system has become, so, maybe you planted a seed over here! Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.
