Hello, beautiful readers! It is fr-fr-fr-freezing in South Florida right now! I am not built for 30-degree weather. It's a hibernating day for me. Lol! I've never turned on the heater in my a/c, so I don't even know if it works, but I may just have to try it out today.
For this week's Wea've Written Weekly (W3) prompt, Svenja invites us to write a double tetractys, which is a 10-line poem with a syllabic pattern of 1-2-3-4-10-10-4-3-2-1. The theme is a little spicy or naughty, so I did a 'little' of both.

A Betrayed Heart
one
small touch
caresses
my tender heart
teasing me with false, lofty promises
but his lies unravel quickly enough
and I am left
healing my
broken
heart

DeleteYvette, those heart breakers that love you and then leave once you are a notch on their belt - cads every one!! It was -4F this morning but it has warmed up to 13F now... My sister lives in Pensacola Beach and they are miserable. She and her husband are wrapped in blankets trying to stay warm!! (they did turn on their furnace - they have one since they are from Indiana and Ohio and couldn't conceive of having a house without a furnace)!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your sister. It is absolutely miserable. My a/c unit technically can be a heater, but it has never had to function as one in the 20+ years I've had it. I'm afraid if I try, it might just die on me. So, I'm wrapped up in layers inside my house, dreading having to leave to go to work. Lol! Thanks for stopping by today. :-)
Delete💔 You’re better off without the rotter!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Indira! I appreciate your visit. :-)
DeleteYvette — “his lies unravel quickly enough” really struck me; that verb makes the betrayal feel visible. “Broken / heart” lands with quiet force for me.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
David
