Hello, beautiful readers! It's #TankaTuesday time! This week, Colleen Chesebro invited Kerfe to choose a theme. So, our theme for this week is "useful."
During COVID, my anxiety reached a peak, so I researched more ways I could get a handle on it. I was already seeing a therapist virtually and meditating, and they were helping, but I am always seeking new knowledge.
I came across The Tapping Solution. They were having a free conference to educate people on the benefits of emotional frequency tapping, and I immediately signed up. Every tap seemed to resonate with my core, and I was hooked. I downloaded the app and now tap almost every day. At first, it was to alleviate my anxiety, but I found taps on releasing self-doubt, on grieving, on falling asleep faster, and on an array of instant boosts that were positive in nature. Now, I find myself calmer, more positive, and more at peace every day. (Disclaimer: I am not getting paid to promote this organization. I'm sharing because I find it valuable.)
So, I decided to write my poem about this. I chose a Shadorma, which has six lines with the syllabication pattern of 3-5-3-3-7-5. You can learn more about it here.
Tapping
breathe and tap
release your worries
tell your mind
you are fine
you think it's a waste of time
it's useful to me
Have you ever tried emotional frequency tapping? I'd love to hear from you.
Shalom. I imagine that the underlying principle of EFT is akin to the Chinese modalities, based upon the meridians. I have relied on acupuncture in the past; and, I have experienced much benefit.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, Tzvi. It focuses on the meridians to work naturally with the body. :-)
DeleteTo me, this sounds like a great grounding and meditation aid. I’m all for anything that helps any of us, and I’m so happy this brings you some relief. I haven’t tried tapping, but I am definitely curious! Wonderfully expressive poem, Yvi. Hugs 💕🙂 (Harmony Kent)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Harmony! I hope you give it a try. They have tapping for pain relief as well. :-)
DeleteSounds like a good way to get rid of anxiety. I find focusing on breathing is always useful.
ReplyDeleteI focus on my breathing as well, but sometimes my inner voice is loud, so I need to direct her to more productive thoughts. Thanks for commenting today, Kerfe! :-)
DeleteThanks, Colleen! I tend to tap in the morning and meditate at night. I'm happy you find enjoyment in meditating. It's such a wonderful way to get in tune with the body and inner self. :-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful poem, Yvi! It's been a while since I tapped and you've inspired me start again. It's a very effective method to recenter and free the heart/mind/soul. Beautiful post! 🤗
ReplyDeleteYes, it is, Gwen! It's also great for pain receptors, too. Recently, I've been dealing with extreme lower back pain. After two days of suffering, I decided to try a tapping called Release Back Pain. By the end of the tapping, the pain was almost completely gone, and it hasn't come back! If I hadn't experienced it myself, I don't know if I would believe it. Lol! And I'll be honest - I've believed in tapping for stress, anxiety, and emotional release, but I doubted the physical stuff. After this week, I no longer doubt it. I feel SO much better now. :-)
DeleteI have enjoyed using tapping in the past to help manifest desires and release stress. It's wonderful that you've found it beneficial and the poem says it all!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that, Jan! :-)
DeleteI know tapping is helpful, the first time I tried it I over did it and gave myself more anxiety. I have a binder of it to try again, at a slower pace. Glad you found a way to obtain that peace xo
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that, Denise. I have found that even three minutes of tapping is calming for me. I've even tapped for just a minute on certain places and have found it comforting. I'd love to hear how it goes if you choose to give it a try again. :-)
DeleteJules from WP/ Tanka Tuesday...
ReplyDeleteI just watched a video about how 'tapping' can help ease tinnitus - ringing in the ears. This tapping you put your hands behind your head (palm close to your head and kind of line up with the bottom of your ears (leaving about a 1 - 2 inch space. Flicking in serise of 8 (the pointer finger off of the center finger) at least four times. That is supposed to help reprogram your brain to not allow the excess ringing. I wonder if your 'Tapping' is related :) - The Tapping for anxiety that I looked up was for the front of your head. But I am sure it is all kind of like accupressure. Glad it helped you!
Thanks for sharing that, Jules! I actually tap on multiple meridian points (side of hand, inner brows, side of eye, under eye, under nose, by chin, under collarbones, under arms, top of head, and sternum). There are other points as well, of course. I found some pdfs that showed the various places to tap and what emotion was connected to each place. It's all fascinating to me. :-)
DeleteJules; Hubby said he tried, but it didn't work for him... the ear thing. The gent in the video said it didn't work for everyone.
DeleteKeep up with your success! Tap, tap!
Sorry it didn't work for him, Jules! Hope he gets some relief soon. Sending healing energy his way... :-)
DeleteThis is new to me. But I like the sound of it already. Anything that aligns with a calming frequency gets me excited. I’m so glad you’re taking care of you this way. Wonderful. Thanks for enlightening me today. And the poem is lovely, Yvette. Be well. I wish you miracles.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the well wishes! I appreciate you sharing your positive energy with me. :-)
DeleteI wish you miracles: that was Selma. XoXo hope you recognized me even if it says Anonymous. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't 100% sure, but I knew it was someone kind and caring, so it makes sense that it was you, Selma! Thank you! :-)
DeleteAn excellent way to promote EFT Yvette.. I was introduced to it when I worked with a number of therapists in a clinic.. effective stress buster... ♥
ReplyDeleteSorry should have said..Sally here..♥
DeleteYes it is, Sally! Thanks for commenting! :-)
DeleteA beautiful poem for a powerful therapeutic technique, Yvette. I'm so glad you found it and the poem found you. (I think I already commented on this post, but I don't see it here.... so cheers for a second time!)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diana! I appreciate you (re)visiting. ;-)
